LIVING GREEN ROOF
A vegetated roof is not a mere decorative element in modern architecture. The growing interest in green roofs lies primarily in the whole range of advantages they offer your home and its surroundings.
A twenty‐first‐century person is aware that a roof is not a mere umbrella. Using the area that covers a house for other purposes and thus elevating the roof to a highly‐useful element is very satisfying for anyone who decides to do so.
Main advantages of a green roof:
Protects and extends the life of a house roof
Reduces energy costs
Cools a house’s interior and the surrounding area
Captures up to 90% of rainwater, which evaporates back into the air
Captures dust and converts CO² into oxygen
Eliminates urban heat islands
Dampens noise going both ways
You can establish vegetation for an extensive roof by laying sedum mats, planting from sedum cuttings or seedlings.
Extensive Green Roof
The main advantage of vegetation on an extensive green roof is its self‐regulation. It can live without regular irrigation and get by with rainwater. The established idea that an extensive roof is maintenance‐free is not completely true, but it is very close.
They do not require irrigation
Maintenance only 1 – 2 times a year
Low load on roof
Vegetation survives bad droughts and frost
Implementation possible up to a roof pitch of 45°
Installation height of approx. 12 cm
Lower costs compared to an intensive green roof
They can be combined with areas that are walkable and can be used by people
Limited choice of vegetation
The vegetation in a rooftop garden can consist of lawns, bushes, trees or useful plants.
Intensive Green Roof
The name is based on the need for intensive roof maintenance. It is often called a roof garden. Maintenance of an intensive roof requires time. It needs regular irrigation, fertilisation, lawn mowing and maintenance of other greenery for cultivation.
They are usually fully walkable, often with hardened surfaces
They provide the same or a similar useful value as a garden
They expand your house’s living area
Higher load on the roof
They require regular irrigation
Intensive maintenance
High installation height
Higher purchase costs
We recommend using extensive vegetation for biosolar roofs. The special retention plate into which a PV panel structure is anchored also distributes and provides water for the vegetation under the panels.
Biosolar Roof
Photovoltaic panels and a green roof are a perfect combination. Panels often overheat in the summer and are not that efficient, but in combination with extensive greenery they cool down due to rainwater evaporation and their performance therefore increases by up to 15%. Thanks to the unique solution, the solar panels do not need to be anchored in the waterproofing or point‐loaded. They are mounted in a special retention plate and the structure is then loaded with vegetation.
Increase in output from photovoltaic panels
Structure does not have to be anchored in the waterproofing and does not require point loading
Combining subsidies for photovoltaics and green roofs is possible
Most environmentally‐friendly use of a roof
Higher acquisition costs
In addition to vegetation suitable for extensive green roofs, other plant species — such as grasses, perennials and woody species that have higher requirements for vegetation layer composition, water and nutrient supply — can be used on semi‐intensive green roofs
Semi‐intensive Green Roof
Semi‐intensive green roofs (also called simple intensive) are a transitional type between extensive and intensive green roofs.
Varied vegetation
Lower costs compared to an intensive roof
Can be combined with areas that are walkable and can be used by people
Irrigation necessary in drier periods
More intensive care
Higher layer strength
Higher load on roof
The correct choice of green roof type is fundamental for successful implementation.

Additional Services
A green roof is not just material.
We Will Arrange Project
Documentation for You
We work with architects and designers who are well‐versed in green roofs. A design by an authorised person is an integral part of larger buildings and essential for drawing subsidies. Together with our collaborators, we can create a functional green roof that is interesting to look at with a wide range of materials in accordance with the client’s requirements.
We Arrange Structural Assessment of Your Roof
For existing structures and new buildings. We will professionally inspect and assess existing roofs in accordance with the applicable standards. We will ascertain the area load‐bearing capacity and determine whether a green roof can be installed. In the event the load‐bearing capacity is low, we will propose strengthening it. For new buildings, we offer a roof assessment at all three stages of project documentation.
